Who We Are:
Met Council is America’s largest Jewish charity dedicated to serving the needy. Our holistic programs range from 100% affordable housing at 20 locations to our award-winning family violence program to comprehensive Holocaust survivor assistance to senior programming to crisis intervention to the largest free kosher food distribution program in the world. Our network of food pantries, affordable housing sites, and JCCs provide services directly in neighborhoods across New York.
What You'll Do:
As part of the Boro Park Pathways team, you will work effectively with clients of all backgrounds impacted by poverty. This includes mentoring clients on the operation of Windows PCs, MS Office and other related computer software. You will also be tasked with data entry and/or assisting clients with registering for programs and/or courses.
- Assess client needs/skills as necessary.
- Conduct in-person and remote client registrations and input information into EMR.
- Obtain appropriate documentation when applicable.
- Provide information and referrals to clients regarding resources in the community when needed.
- Do regular follow ups with clients and collaterals to ensure appropriate and effective referrals.
- Recognize and adhere to professional roles and boundaries, able to assess client’s capacity to carry out mutually decided upon, realistic tech goals.
- Maintain ongoing contact log notes and related documentation.
- Attend trainings and seminars regarding topics related to Boro Park Pathways work.
- Represent agency in meetings as needed.
- Participate in community events and distributions as needed.
- Demonstrate cultural sensitivity to all clients.
- Comply with demands of funding grant and assist in preparing grant reports.
- Participate in individual supervision as needed.
- Work collaboratively with Boro Park Pathways team and cover when staff is out, as needed.
- Manage a caseload of clients.
- Other responsibilities as required.

We'd Like You to Have:
- Knowledge of career resources and government entitlements and resources
- Strong knowledge of the insular Jewish communities in Brooklyn
- Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Fluency in Yiddish
What We Offer:
This is a part-time (4 h/week) position based at a Brooklyn satellite office with occasional meetings/trainings at the main location in Manhattan. Participating in outdoor events in Brooklyn may be required on occasion. Benefits package includes pre-tax commuter benefits; 403(b); plus pro-rated vacation, sick leave and holidays.
