Operations Coordinator

Our services include 100% affordable housing at 21 locations, family violence program, Holocaust survivor assistance, geriatric social work, crisis intervention and the largest free kosher food distribution program in the world. Our network of 120 food pantries, affordable housing sites, and JCCs provide services directly in neighborhoods across New York City.

Position Summary:

Met Council’s Food Program Warehouse receives millions of pounds of food from various sources throughout the year. The Operations Coordinator will be responsible for managing and supporting operations projects and tasks based in the food warehouse. The Operations Coordinator will also support data entry related to warehouse inventory and purchasing and take the lead on streamlining new processes. This role will support other team members as needed and partner with the Senior Warehouse Manager to execute and evaluate projects and processes. This is a great opportunity for someone who is curious and likes to keep busy in different ways.

Please note: This position is entirely on-site and is based in our Brooklyn warehouse.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Manage Food Programs operations projects.
  • Maintain small on-going project deliverables associated with weekly operations.
  • Work with data team and warehouse team regarding Market Warehouse Management processes and practices.
  • Evaluate existing warehouse operations functions and prepare support materials for new/existing processes.
  • Additional responsibilities as required.

Competencies:

  • Comfortable with technology including Office 365 and MS Teams.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce (preferred).
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
  • Experience and comfort working with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds and with. varied levels of technological skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Additional languages a plus.

Skill and Education:

  • College degree or equivalent work experience.
  • High level of computer literacy and comfort learning new software independently.

Special Requirements:

  • Willingness to learn about food and Jewish customs.
  • Must be a team player.

Compensation: $20 - $25 per hour.
